Sunny Tsang of Sunshine Studios worked
hard to get us this video quick! Until it gets
recompressed, here they are (same content) as a 160meg
WMV (Windows Media) file, or a 203meg
MPG-1 (viewable on practically any computer).
Pictures are presently being sorted and
prepped, so stay tuned!

R/C
Sumo Cancelled
|
May
7, 2003 |
|
The registration deadline has come and
gone, and due to lack of competitor interest, the R/C Sumo
competition is now downgraded to a Demonstration event.
If you were registered for R/C Sumo, you are still welcome
to bring it and demonstrate it, but there will not be an
official prize handed out for this event this year.

Mini-sumo
workshop reminder

April

|
April 26 is the first evening for the SAIT/ICT
(Information & Communication Technologies) sponsored
Mini-Sumo workshop. If you're interested in more details,
visit the society page at www.robotgames.net.
Can't make it the 26th? Well, there's also the workshop on
May 9th, and yet another sponsored
workshop by Solarbotics & Alberta Printed Circuits
in the evening of May 9th.

Woohoo!
Competitor Registration Teaser!
|
April
8, 2003 |
If you've been procrastinating getting your registration
& fee in, here's a great incentive! Fluke
Canada generously donated these cool Wavetek /
Meterman DM73B
pen-style multimeters (worth $88 each)! The first 35
robot-geeks to register and submit payment
will be getting these as part of their grab bags!
Now,
don't think you can just slap some wheels on a
cardboard box and try to enter it as a viable competitor.
Only serious entries will qualify for this registration
bonus. We've got experience roboticists manning the
registration tables, and "crapbots" will be
...filtered out... And remember, your registration fee is non-refundable!

After some delay, welcome to the new WCRG website!
Please pardon any glitches while we fine tune the site
(like the duplicate navigation bars). Fire us an email
if you find any glaring errors!
We're working on a full sub-website for the Western
Canadian Robot Society, but in the meanwhile we'll have
the necessary notices posted here.

Here's a mind-blower
for you: we actually have the vast majority of the
pictures ready for you to view here. If
there's a picture you'd like in highest resolution,
contact us, and we'll get you a copy somehow.
This year, we had the foresight to get our photographer
to shoot digitally, to expedite the process. Not only
that, he won 3rd place in Autonomous Sumo! AND,
but he was extra nice and had a nice 22 minute video
produced (courtesy of his company, Sunshine Photo Studios
in Calgary). In MPEG-1
(198meg). A smaller version is presently rendering
down to size - stay tuned.
Official results and prize distribution to follow
shortly.
