So you're coming to Calgary - GREAT! We really recommend you call early and reserve your rooms at a hotel of your choice. Most venues are within a 15 minute walk of the venue (better to grab a cab if your robots are heavy).

Motel Village

This is essentially a grouping of 10 or so hotels/motels ranging in price and features. It is on the corner of Crowchild Trail and 16th Ave N.W. (TransCanada) and is across from McMahon Stadium. This is the recommended hotel accommodations for the robot games for two main reasons:

Because there are so many hotels, reservations aren't really required as you will likely find one with vacancy and within your budget, but it's always a good idea to book ahead.

The Banff Trail C-Train station is located here, SAIT is only a 5 minute, 2 station ride away (Southbound). This also allows convenient access to many other Calgary attractions via the C-train.

SAIT Residence & Conference Centre (403-284-8013 for info and reservations) is SAIT's on-campus dormitory consisting of Phase-1 (Owasina Hall) and Phase-2 (New Building) which is used by the students during the school year. However, between mid-May and mid-August it is open to the public for short duration stays at a very reasonable rates. As it is on campus, it is the ideal lodging for robot builders as you don't have far to go with all your tools and robots.

All beds are made upon arrival with fresh linen, one blanket and one pillow. A towel set (one bath, one hand and one wash cloth), hand soap and cup are provided for each person in each room upon arrival. A fresh towel set is delivered when daily housekeeping service is provided. Bed linen is exchanged after each three-day period.

Owasina Hall - Basic Service ($22.00/night/person)

All beds are made upon arrival with fresh linen, one blanket and one pillow. A towel set (one bath, one hand and one wash cloth), hand soap and cup are provided for each person in each room upon arrival. In general, fresh bath linens are provided after each three day period of continuous occupancy, while bed linen is exchanged after each five day period. Housekeeping service is not provided. Basic Service is only available to groups staying three or more nights.

Addendum: The Owasina Hall has recently constructed a newer, more comfortable facility in addition to the original building.
