Pneumatics Pnight

Tonight we visit SAIT's advanced pneumatic lab to experiment with design and fabrication of pneumatic circuits.

SAIT's own Gordon Smith has put together the  following evening for us...

I was thinking of the concept of a fun evening having your members build a series of pneumatic circuits on our trainers, starting with simple manually-operated circuits, and then building in a series of interlocks and feedbacks to satisfy typical industrial applications, and culminating in a more complex automatic mechanical and electro-pneumatic circuits. I will provide all the schematics, and explanations of the underlying philosophy, as well as help hook up the circuits where necessary! This event will take place in T101, where we have 8 pneumatic trainers. Obviously, your members will have to split into teams, depending upon how many people turn up.

  • Climbers Primers, Quentins Eagle talk popular!  Thanks guys!  PCB Buildfest deadline is FEB 28... get your designs to Quentin!

  • Mini Sumo

    • workshop at SAIT ( members only ) Saturday Feb 26. ( $40 per kit )  Seats are limited.

    • New SAM I AM Micro boards nearly available for existing SAMbots as upgrades.  ( JCM Inventures donated design )

    • APCircuits completely sponsors SAMbot circuit boards!

    • The society is also hosting a Mini-sumo workshop for the AeroSpace museum Saturday Feb 12.  If you are coming to the RBM this Saturday, please volunteer to assist if you can!

    • Society plans to host two other SAMbot workshops, probably in March/April timeframe.

  • Robofest  http://www.robofest.net

    • Howard Stribbell hosting a local robofest in Milk River April 9!

    • Does anybody want to volunteer and/or particpate?

  • Pamphlets and Posters

    • Society Recruitment posters and pamphlets are complete.  Please distribute.  Robotgames  material nearly ready.

  • ROBOT's movie promotion

    • 20th Century Fox partnering with robot society to create publicity Stunt at Science Center March 6, 0225.

    • Robot Society designs contest for kids to participate in.  Event is duplicated in Edmonton, Vancouver.

    • 20th Cent Fox prints robot society logo on all tickets, promotes robot society and games at theatres, and provides free tickets to volunteers.

  • Theme for next robotgames:  Movie ( or Sci Fi ) Robots!

    • Any idea's for a guest speaker??

  • Vote on Soldering Iron Purchase for society.

    • Active components subsidizes cost on inexpensive irons with stands. ( about $25 x 20 irons.
