Acting Secretary: Paul Godin
Craig Maynard opened the first meeting at 7:08 PM on October 18, 2001 on SAIT
campus. Approximately 20 people were present at the meeting.
Craig introduced the suggested schedule for the meeting (url: http://www.robotgames.com).
A Yahoo discussion group has also been set up on the web site.
Craig described the concept of a robot society, explaining that the society
would be a means for robotics enthusiasts to share information and pool
resources. It would be a means of sharing ideas and would help encourage
robotics interest in Southern Alberta. The society would operate separately from
the WCRG.
The society is already registered as a non-profit organization. One of the
immediate goals is a membership of 100 people.
Based on questions, there was a discussion on the primary differences between
the WCRG and Battlebots. Essentially, it was explained that these are 2 very
different sets of contests between robots.
